Rebecca Hunter

former Commissioner, Department of Human Resources, State of Tennessee

Rebecca Hunter served on Governor Bill Haslam’s cabinet as Commissioner of the Department of Human Resources for eight years. Prior to this appointment, she spent six years as the Director of Human Resources for Hamilton County Government in Chattanooga and held management positions in governmental finance for over 25 years. Rebecca is a Certified Public Accountant and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). During her tenure with State government, Rebecca established the Department of Human Resources as a leader in innovative human resources practices, while developing the best workforce for state government. She led a successful effort to transform the State’s employment practices with the passage of the T.E.A.M. Act, which has moved the State from a focus on seniority to a focus on performance. As a result, all state employees have a S.M.A.R.T. performance plan which aligns their work with the agency goals and the Governor’s priorities.

Robert Oglesby

NEOGOV's Strategic Advisor. He assists the company in bringing greater insights and value to their customers and in the development and offering of the company’s research, products, and services. Prior to NEOGOV, Bob served as Tennessee’s Commissioner of General Services (2013-2019). His department was responsible for centralized procurement and management of the state’s fixed assets. Primary services included real estate, procurement, fleet, printing, and postal services.

Alan Cox

Executive Vice President and Publisher, Governing

Alan is involved in the annual production of dozens of events as well as the editorial direction for Governing, Government Technology, Emergency Management, the Center for Digital Government, and the Center for Digital Education. Alan has been a guest lecturer at universities and a frequent speaker for key government and industry organizations. For over 35 years, Alan has worked with industry, education and government officials to help them better understand the importance and use of information technology. Alan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at California State University, Sacramento.

Brenda Decker — Moderator

Senior Fellow, Center for Digital Government

Brenda Decker most recently spent five years with IBM as a Director for Global Government Industry services. Prior to IBM, Brenda served in Nebraska state government for 37 years, 10+ years as the state's chief information officer with responsibility for state government computing, telecommunications, public safety radio, and video conferencing. Her expertise leading, transforming and managing large IT organizations has created high-performing teams and partnered cross functional public and private organizations. Her work has garnered both local and national recognition for her contributions to government technology.
